Amb. Toluwa Mulade has called on the Federal Government and Government Ekpemupolo to work with other Militant Leaders, Peace Initiative Groups, in the award of Surveillance in the Protection of Pipelines Contract to sustain peace in the Niger Delta region.
Following the recent award of multi-billion naira surveillance and protection of pipelines to a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta , Chief Tompolo Ekpemupolo by the Federal Government, the President of the Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta ,Ambassador Toluwa Mulade, a non governmental organization that has been involved in brokering peace between the Niger Delta Militants and the federal government have called on the Federal Government, Chief Tompolo to get other Militant Groups, Peace Initiative Groups in Niger Delta involve in the Pipeline surveillance and protection to avoid agitation in the area.
Ambassador Toluwa Mulade while reacting said, when 10 Turkish sailors who were among 18 crew members on board in Chicago vessel on their way from Cameroun were kidnapped in Bayelsa state on the 16th of July 2019 in Nigeria, the Riverine Peace Initiative of the Niger Delta was able to intervene and broker between the kidnappers and the sailors before they were released.
According to him, the expatriate were dropped off in Otugori , a community in Ogbia local government area in Bayelsa state which was reported by the TVC news and other media houses.
He advised that Federal Government, Chief Tompolo should consider other groups in the area in other to sustain the peace they have suffered to build over the years.
He further said, that the Niger Delta area had enjoyed peace these few years and would not want such peace to be twarted by issues like this.
He however called on the federal government and Chief Tompolo to also stretch its hand to other group leaders to avoid unnecessary crisis as these militants are still very much intact with their weapons.
He added that companies and groups that are trust worthy should be considered as such move would only promote continuous peace and reduction of pipeline vandalization in Niger Delta.
In a similar development, Amb. Toluwa Mulade also called on Lord of the creek to shield their swords and embrace peace as the key stàkeholders would ensure they are carried along in the pipeline surveillance and protection.
