Abdulrahaman Halimat, a prominent Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, has thrown her weight behind Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, CON, expressing optimism and believe that Sen. Shekarau is the best fit to serve as the National Chairman of the PDP.
Hajia Halimat made the disclosure in a statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja, described, Sen. Shekarau as one with the right pedigree, dignity and capacity to bail the PDP from it current quagmire.
Halimat specifically highlighted Sen. Shekarau’s capabilities and suitability for the role, described Sen. Shekarau as a seasoned administrator, having risen to the office of Permanent Secretary, Governor, Senator, Minister, pointed out that he is what the PDP needs to reposition ahead 2027.
She expressed confidence that Shekarau’s experience and contributions to National Development, as a pan Nigeria, a bridge builder, who has broken the barriers to religion and ethnicity, has the courage to take the PDP to the next level.
The significance of Shekarau’s potential role as National Chairman, Halimat explained would steer PDP’s national strategy and direction, added that his Leadership would impact PDP’s cohesion and electoral prospects.
According to Halimat, her endorsement of Shekarau’s Chairmanship underscored the internal dynamics and aspirations within the PDP, reflecting ongoing political maneuvering ahead of significant electoral contests for the position of the National Chairman.
According to Halimat, Sen. Shekarau is best suitable for the PDP National Chairman, urged that he should be considered for the PDP National Chairman role, due to several factors such as his experience.
“Shekarau has served as Governor of Kano State, showcasing his leadership capabilities. He’s known for his political savvy and experience navigating Nigeria’s complex political landscape. The PDP’s zoning arrangement suggests the chairmanship role should come from the North, aligning with Shekarau’s background”.
” Over the years, Shekarau has expressed views on critical issues like security, taxation, and governance reforms, reasons why Halimat, a PDP chieftain in Kogi State, endorsed Shekarau for the role”.
The Kogi PDP Chieftain described Shekarau as one Nigerian who having served in different capacity, remains transparent with no history of corruption ever linked to him.
Sen. Shekarau according to Halimat, has integrity and strong leadership qualities, added that his effective leadership would impact PDP’s performance in upcoming elections like 2027.
” I am confident that Shekarau will bring experience and his political weight. He has all it takes to handle the party’s Internal dynamics”.
