PDP E-Registration in Kogi, Gambo Warns: “No Card, No Contest”
The State Chairman, Kogi PDP says it is a national directive, bars unregistered members from party elections, urges compliance before week’s end
The Kogi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, has directed all party members in the state to complete the PDP’s ongoing e-registration exercise or risk exclusion from future party activities, including elections.
Speaking in Lokoja, Hon. Gambo said the directive emanated from the PDP National Secretariat and applies to all National and State Working Committee members, as well as State, Local Government, and Ward executives across Kogi.
According to the Chairman, “no member of the PDP would be allowed to embark on or contest in the party’s election and other activities if he didn’t register.”
He added that the directive from the National Secretary mandates all members not only to register but to also present their e-registration code to the State Chairman for verification.
Gambo urged members to take advantage of the platform and complete their registration before the end of next week, describing the exercise as “vital” to the party’s internal organization and planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The PDP’s nationwide e-registration, launched by the National Working Committee, is designed to create a credible digital membership database, eliminate ghost members, and strengthen internal democracy. Each registrant is issued a unique e-registration code and a digital membership card, which will serve as the sole means of identification for congresses, primaries, and other party functions.
While Hon. Gambo did not specify a closing date, party sources indicate that state chapters have been advised to conclude mop-up registrations by the end of April 2026 to allow for harmonization before congresses begin. Members can register via the official PDP e-membership portal, http://www.pdperegitration.com.ng, or at designated registration centers in each ward. Required details include name, ward, LGA, phone number, NIN, and passport photograph.
The directive covers all categories of members — from serving lawmakers and appointees to grassroots mobilizers. State and ward executives have been tasked to mobilize members and submit compiled e-registration codes to the State Secretariat for onward transmission to Abuja.
Political analysts say the move is part of the PDP’s effort to reposition after its 2023 outing and enforce discipline ahead of off-cycle and general elections. “The party is saying if you want a voice, first be counted,” said Dr. Halima Bello, a political analyst in Lokoja. “It also helps the PDP plan logistics and funding based on real numbers.”
Hon. Gambo appealed to members not to wait until the last minute. “This is the foundation for every other thing we will do as a party. If your name is not in the register, you cannot nominate, you cannot be nominated, and you cannot vote at party meetings. Let us take it seriously,” he said.
