Two time former Kogi State Lawmaker, Hon. Erick Fiki has described the recent approval by Gov. Yahaya Bello for the immediate disbursement of the N497 million meant for the payment of WAEC examination fees of students in the state’s public schools as timely, well calculated, pointing out that it has sealed the lips of detractors.
The former Special Adviser on Saturday in a statement issued to Newsmen, commended Governor Yahaya Bello for paying the WAEC examination fees of students in the state’s public schools.
Hon Fiki described the gesture as a welcome development that has brought relief to parents. He described the present administration as people oriented human centred.
Hon. Fiki said the approval for the immediate disbursement of the N497 million meant to foot the WAEC bill would serve as a big relief to parents. He added that Gov. Bello has by this gesture brought relief and succour to parents in the State in this period of economic challenge.
The former lawmaker and Chieftain of Kogi State APC declared that the Governor has by his action written his name in the record books and permanently on the minds of the people.
“The jubilation across the State over the payment of WAEC Fees is an indication that the policy to offer free education by the APC led administration has been underscored with the approval of N497 Million for all public school students in Kogi State”.
” This also underscores Gov. Bello’s love for the education of youths of the State. The State has never had it good”.
“The policy would remain a big relief to parents. The gesture has lifted the huge load of shoulders of parents. There is a global melt down that has put strain on families meeting their responsibilities. The approval is not one that should be taken for granted”.
“This free payment policy would go down memory lane as one policy with direct bearings on the lives of the people. This surprised package could not have come at a better time as it would increase more enrollment and for children to fulfil their potentials”.
“That Gov. Bello has undertaken to assist the students in this manner is not only commendable but also highly exemplary, particularly in it timelines”, said it is a calculated strategy that is in the people’s interest that has sealed the lips of detractors.
The former lawmaker said by the gesture to take off the burden on the shoulders of parents, it shows the humane personality of Gov. Bello, who he explained is always thinking about the welfare and growth of the State.
“I congratulate the students and parents of Kogi State for this incredible intervention by the state government”, urged the students to justify the goodwill support by working hard to improve the State ratings in WAEC in the country.
Hon. Fiki used the opportunity to thank Gov. Bello, expressed confidence that the APC Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo will win overwhelmingly in the forthcoming Governorship election.
