Our Nation Should Learn From The Kogi Example – Fanwo

……says neglect of Kogi roads is bad for the nation

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo has urged political leaders in the country to emulate the leadership qualities of Governor Yahaya Bello, saying the young Governor has “stirred a revolution in governance”.Fanwo made this known while speaking with journalists in Makurdi, Friday, after a short meeting with some groups calling on the Kogi State Governor to declare for the 2023 presidential contest. His words: “He will address the nation at the appropriate time on the deafening calls on him to throw his hat into the ring for the 2023 Presidency. He is a law abiding Nigerian who will not flout the electoral law as to when campaign should commence. But I know he won’t disappoint the millions looking up to him to come out for the 2023 Presidency.“As you can see, it was a very short meeting to thank them and reassure them that what they are doing is right, patriotic and timely for the salvation of our nation. Kogi was disunited, GYB has united the state. Kogi was the kidnap capital of Nigeria. Under GYB, Kogi is the safest state in Nigeria. Kogi State was doing well in the corruption league before GYB came. Today, the State has won several awards for transparency and accountability. “Under GYB, Kogi State has become a construction hub. Road construction wprks are on in all the Senatorial Districts of the State, including the Senatorial Districts that are not his origin. Recently, we completed the construction of a 56km road cutting across five Local Government Areas in Kogi East. Every part of Kogi now know that what is needed is a good leader, and not necessarily someone from your village. “Governor Yahaya Bello has done so well in rural electrification, water provision and especially, taking health-care delivery to another level. We have remodeled hundreds of hospitals into world class standards. He is also building some tertiary and secondary health institutions which will be completed soon.“When the Ganaja Flyover was started, many didn’t believe we can. It is understandable as previous administrations didn’t earn the trust of the people. But it is now taking shape and the citizens are happy about it. “Nigeria needs the energy and dynamism of GYB. He is competent and full of capacity to take our nation to the next level. We are grateful to Nigerians for identifying him as the man for the big job”.On the neglect of Federal Roads in Kogi State, Fanwo said it is unfortunate that the centre of the nation is receiving such treatment. “GYB has strategically concentrated the resources of the state in ensuring rural areas do not only have good schools and health Centres, but also good roads. Even his opponents are commending him for that.“But the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing needs to do more in Kogi State. It is unfortunate that Federal Roads in Kogi are the most neglected in Nigeria. The Governor had visited the Minister on several occasions to present the sordid case of Federal roads in Kogi State. Our Federal and State Legislators had also gone to plead with rhe Minister to attend to Federal Roads in Kogi. At many Townall Meetings across the State, our people have made their desire known to the Minister. Let us see what he will do with our Federal roads in Kogi State. Our people are the ones suffering from the effect of the despicable condition of those roads and the Governor is not comfortable with what is looking more now like a deliberate neglect of our Federal roads. “We will continue to call on His Excellency, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola to please attend to our roads. The millions spent on ensuring palliative measures on those roads would have helped us fix more State roads. “Kogi is the gateway to the North and South, sharing borders with 10 other states. We deserve better from the Federal Ministry of Works”, he said. He also called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the nation, expressing confidence in the Nigerian youth to create the nation they want to see in 2023.
