OPPOSITION MUST DESIST FROM FURTHER WILD POLITICAL ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PRESIDENT TINUBU AND THE ADMINISTRATION

The relentless desperation of opposition politicians to smear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration with baseless allegations is not only irresponsible, reckless, and malicious, it is a dangerous assault on truth, democratic decency, and national stability.
Nigeria cannot be governed on the basis of rumours, propaganda, and politically motivated fiction and lies manufactured solely to inflame public emotions ahead of 2027.
The opposition, particularly elements within the ADC, must understand that democracy is not a theatre for reckless accusations without evidence. Serious allegations require serious proof. Anything short of that amounts to political blackmail, defamation, and deliberate misinformation aimed at discrediting President Tinubu’s government.
Even more embarrassing for the opposition is the way their own narratives often collapse under the weight of contradictions.
On what basis are these dangerous accusations being made? Political bitterness? Media sensationalism? Desperation for relevance? Or calculated propaganda designed to weaken public confidence in the administration?
In civilized democracies, allegations of financial crimes are not established through press conferences, social media hysteria, or opposition press releases. They are established through evidence, investigations, legal processes, and judicial pronouncements.
If the opposition truly possesses evidence that, for instance, ₦800 billion was diverted, Nigerians deserve to see transaction records, audit documents, official correspondence, investigative findings, names of agencies involved, beneficiary accounts, and legally verifiable proof. Anything outside these remains nothing but noise, blatant and shameless lies.
The troubling reality is that some opposition figures have now embraced a dangerous culture of, accuse first, look for evidence later. That is not opposition politics. That is propaganda warfare.
Even when President Tinubu, in his non vindictive nature, ignores the barrage of personal abuses, falsehoods, and name calling directed at him, the Nigerian people are not fools. Nigerians can see clearly that President Tinubu and his administration are busy confronting inherited economic distortions that previous governments lacked the courage to tackle decisively.
President Tinubu took the painful but necessary decision to remove the fraudulent fuel subsidy regime, a monumental drainpipe for corruption. That singular decision disrupted decades of organized economic exploitation by powerful interests who fed fat on subsidy fraud and who today fans the embers of lies.
Naturally, those benefiting from the old corrupt order are the ones fighting back through propaganda, sponsored outrage, and fabricated allegations. But Nigerians know the truth.
Under Tinubu’s administration:- FAAC allocations to states have improved significantly, giving states greater fiscal capacity, even if the opposition fails to question their governors on how those funds are used. Massive infrastructure projects are ongoing. Local government autonomy is receiving serious attention in states that genuinely prioritise the people’s interests. Efforts to stabilise the naira and reform taxation are underway. Foreign investors are gradually regaining confidence in Nigeria. The security architecture continues to receive renewed attention.
These are measurable governance realition, not opposition fiction.
What is even more ironic is that many of those shouting loudest today were silent when Nigeria bled economically for years under failed policies they themselves supervised, subsidy rackets, and systemic leakages. Some of them occupied positions of influence yet offered no meaningful reforms.
Today, they suddenly present themselves as moral crusaders simply because 2027 is approaching. Nigerians must reject this hypocrisy.
President Tinubu’s political strength was not built overnight, and it certainly does not depend on any imaginary ₦800 billion conspiracy theory to win again in 2027.
His political relevance is rooted in decades of political organisation, coalition building, democratic struggle, governance experience, and grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria. The opposition is clearly rattled by the reality that, despite economic difficulties and the ongoing reforms, President Tinubu remains firmly in control of governance and the nation’s political direction. That explains their growing desperation to weaponise falsehood.
However, there is a serious question of accountability for reckless political accusations. Democracy guarantees freedom of speech, yes, but it does not guarantee the freedom to maliciously spread unverified allegations capable of damaging reputations, undermining institutions, and misleading the public without consequences. If individuals or political groups continue making grave corruption allegations without evidence, they too must be prepared to face legal scrutiny for misinformation, defamation, and deliberate attempts to destabilise public confidence in democratic institutions.
Nigeria’s democracy cannot mature if politics becomes an endless marketplace of lies, where anybody can wake up, throw around bogus allegations, provide no proof, and face no accountability.
Enough of irresponsible politics.
Enough of reckless propaganda.
Enough of opposition by fabrication.
President Tinubu should be judged fairly by his policies, reforms, economic direction, courage under pressure, and commitment to restructuring Nigeria’s financial realities, not by baseless accusations manufactured in the laboratories of political desperation.
History is always cruel to propagandists, but history remembers courageous leaders who took difficult decisions for national survival.
Despite the noise of the opposition, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains focused on the bigger task, rebuilding Nigeria for the future.
