The Onu Abocho and Paramount ruler of Biraidu, HRH, Chief Jonah Okai Idrisu has promised to do all within his reach towards actualizing a befitting palace for the Onu Abocho.
Chief Jonah Okai Idrisu gave the assurance Monday at Abocho, while receiving the report of a committee constituted to locate a suitable site for the project.
He noted that it was a concern that after twenty eight Onu Abocho, the people were yet to have an official palace as previous ones operated from their personal homes.
According to him, such development was unhealthy and stressed the need to positively rewrite the history of the well revered people of Biraidu.
Chief Jonah said the timely submission of the report was an indication that the people had spoken with one voice and called for more support from Biraidu sons and daughters, both at home and abroad.
The Paramount ruler noted that Biraidu District lacked alot of basic social amenities, saying when given the right leadership, all plans will be actualized by God’s grace.
He explained that the lack of an official palace for the Onu Abocho has led to the missing of historical relics, assuring that such relics will be recovered to preserve history for the sake of unborn generations.
The Onu Abocho promised to consult widely with all relevant stakeholders and subject the plan for the project to public scrutiny in order to ensure collective leadership and attaining a perfect project.
Chief Jonah Okai Idrisu also stressed the need for value re orientation and attitudinal change àmong youths, maintaining that the land should be secured first to attract development in all spheres.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for the opportunity to contribute his quota to the development of the society, the Attah Igala, Dekina Local Government Area traditional Council, Abocho community leaders and Elders as well as the Committee for doing a good job.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Sunday Anaja while presenting the report, said the prompt action was based on their strong desire to witness development and make the palace a model to other communities and states.
Engineer Anaja thanked the Onu Abocho for being a pride to the people through exemplary rulership as demonstrated through his personal development projects and other initiatives.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the report will be given immediate attention and thanked members for their commitment to the course.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Abocho Community leader, Mallam Garba Isa Omeji, BDDA Chairman and Secretary, Alhaji Sheidu Momoh-Sani and Mr Enejo Anaja, some Gagos and other stakeholders.
Highlight was a display and examination of the first phase of the proposed plan which contains all the required facilities of a modern palace in a modern society.
