Kogi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello has continued to make giant strides in road infrastructure.
This was stated by Hon. Commissioner for works and housing Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere FNSE, during the inspection today to the project site to assess the progress of work.
Engr. Ohere stressed that His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello had thought it wise to reconstruct the road because of concern for the people of the state.
According to the Honourable Commissioner, “Permit me to reiterate the resolve of this administration to make all parts of the state accessible by good roads as enshrined under the infrastructure development pillar of the cardinal points of this administration.
In our quest to restore Kogi values, the government has continued to pursue lofty goals even in the face of daunting challenges. We are not allowing paucity of funds to deter us in the execution of our programmes”, he said.
Similarly, he also appealed to road users to bear the discomfort being experienced everyday as a result of blockages and diversions, pointing out that it was a necessary action in a construction work of such magnitude above all on such busy road with high traffic volume and axle load.
Engr. Ohere pointed out that while some sections of the road are also at different levels of completion, palliative/remedial work are being carried out on the sections that are critically bad to facilitate ease of passage for motorists.
He added that the road will enhance the socio-economic development of the people.
He advised the contractors handling the project to ensure “strict adherence to specifications with a view to delivering high quality, durable and serviceable roads within the stipulated time”.
Government is desirous of completing this project, as such is not leaving anything to chance, that is why we are here regularly tracking the progress of work with a view to sorting out any identified challenges, Engr. Ohere concluded.”
