The sacrilegious act committed on the sanity of Kogi people on Saturday 12th of December 2020, clocks a year today, when people were disenfranchised from exercising their rights, candidates defrauded after spending thier precious money to purchase forms from state Electoral body and wasted their time going round to campaign only to be confronted by a situation where they gathered and waited endlessly for election to hold on the fixed date, but rather heard APC candidates were declared as Councilors and Chairmen.
It is not only backward but sad to note that, in the history of mankind, it has never been heard that an election date was fixed and election officials and materials were not seen, no voting took place and certain persons were declared winners, even in the 21st Century, bringing the state and APC into ridicule, with attendant insults to the sensibilities of tax payers and on lookers.
The statement noted that, “a year after, the Yahaya Bello APC led Government is yet to release the result of the elections claimed to have being held at various unknown polling units, talk more of breaking down the positions of the figures as it trickles in as is the case in all mother elections” the statement reads in part as signed by the party’s Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Onibiyo Dayo.
This again has gone down in the anal of the history of our great nation as the first time, it will be done in Nigeria.
We call on the Federal Government to revisit it’s weakness in checking Kogi state Governor, who has always gone against the teneth of democracy unchecked.
The APC as a ruling party in Kogi state has always boasted to be popular in the state, so much so that, it’s Governor is even claiming that he is being asked to run for Nigerian Presidential seat, but yet can’t face the people at the local area for mere LG election, despite all politics being local.
The PDP hereby reminds these characters that, what they have done will one day be visited by posterity and humanity within the context of the laws of the land, as the world is watching!
We appeal to Kogi sons and daughters as well as those resident in Kogi and environs, not to give up on praying for Kogi state at all times, while they get their instrument of electoral decision making ready, their voters card to boot out the APC come 2023 at both National and State.
