One Year After: Delay in choice of Attah worries Igala people


 

 

The Igala people of Kogi State expressed displeasure over delay in installing a new Attah after one year that the former went on hunting expedition.

The president-elect of the ICDA, Alh Abubakar Sadiq Ahmodu expressed the displeasure of the PEOPLE of the kingdom during the 2020 annual general meeting of the association held at the Igala unity house, anyigba, Dekina local government area of Kogi State.
He appealed to the authority concerns to expedite action on the processes as the kingdom can not continue to wait in futility as the father oversees both the physical and spiritual affairs of his people.
He equally calls on igala sons and daughters to unit and speak with one voice over issues of the land, noting that, gone are the days where people shows in large numbers for an election and disappear without trace, he emphasized on the need for the people to have one voice and speak less of themselves and also take the welfare of the people to be paramount.
He spoke on the need for unity at all times irrespective of political,religion and cultural affiliation.

A former grand kadi of Kogi State Sharia court of Appeal, Rtd justice Zachariah Idakwoji collaborated the statement of the president, emphasizing progress, unity and development of the Igala land.
He lamented that, one year after the stool of Attah igala became vacant, we are yet to have a replacement and that should not be acceptable as politics has no place in the selection of new Attah.
He calls on the relevant authority to do the needful.

The Onu Igala, from Karu, Nasawara state, HRH Malam Yunusa Ali expresses similar dismay over the delay and appealed to the government to conclude the processes without further delay as the throne has a significant role in the affairs of the kingdom.

It could be recalled that, one year after the hurting expedition of the former Attah Igala,the Igala area traditional council has presented their position on the choice of new Attah to the government through the kogi state ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, but the people of the kingdom are yet to see result of the submission.
