As part of his administration policy to improve on the Internally generated revenue for the council area, the executive Chairman of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Tuesday constituted a five man revenue committee with the mandate to collect all statutory revenues for the council area in line with local government administrative laws.
The revenue committee which is headed by a veteran tax officer, Abdulazeez Fache is expected to block all loopholes and ensure monies due for the local government are effective and efficiently collected and remitted into government coffer. The council boss further explained that, for government to embark on meaningful projects and impact positively on the life of the citizenry, there is need to look inwards and ensure people are made to perform one their obligatory responsibility which is paying the recommended taxes to government.
He assured committee members that his administration will make available all logistics support needed to enable the committee function effectively and achieve the desired target in revenue collections for the local government. The council chairman enjoined management and staff of the council as well as the general public to cooperate fully with the new tax officers. The new revenue officers will report directly to the council chairman.
