…Recognises his Excellent Contributions to Educational Development in Nigeria.
A socio-cultural organization and the umbrella body of Ogorians living in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital, have honoured Chief Olugbemiro Jegede,
Emeritus Professor and the Ogurefa of Ogori with an award on Educational Development in Nigeria.
The Ogori Descendants Union, ODU, Lokoja Branch, at the weekend hosted Prof. Jegede to a colourful and interesting ceremony at an extraordinary Idu celebration.
Prof. Jegede was represented at the occasion by Hon. Oladipo Makakese Bayode, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State.

pointed out that the ODU is impressed with the outstanding achievements of Emeritus Prof. Jegede, reason why he is being celebrated at this year’s Idu and Award festival with a life time award on Educational Development.
The ODU described Prof. Jegede as an eminent son of Ogori land, said he has distinguished himself in the academic development of Nigeria as a whole with Ogori land in particular.
ODU added that Prof. Jegede is deserving of the honour in the educational development of Nigerian, praised his contributions to human capital development and growth of Ogori land in particular.
In a special remarks at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi commended the efforts of Prof. Jegede to the Educational Development of Nigeria particularly in the establishment and running of the open and distance learning through the Open University in Nigeria.
Prof. Akinwumi notes the invaluable contributions of Prof. Jegede, described him as a legend who’s legacies would for a long time would continue to make him a positive reference.
Also speaking, the Chairman, ODU Lokoja Branch Idu and Award planing Committee, Mike Oyidi described the selfless services of Prof. Jegede to the educational development of Nigeria, with particular emphasis to Ogori as rewarding. He added that ” We the Ogori Community in Lokoja is proud of his exploits”.
In his acceptance of the honour done to him, Prof. Jegede assured that he will continue to make the educational attainments of his people cardinal, expressed appreciation for the recognition.
Highlights of this year’s Idu celebration featured the rich cultural heritage of the Ogori people, comprising of Idu rites, Eregba, Ogengen ensen, ‘Oko’ competition and more.
The celebration was witnessed by the sons and daughters, friends and well wishers of Ogori land who converged at the Graphic Newspaper premises to celebrate this year’s Idu celebration.
