Ododo Bassa: Bello to Receive Peace, Security Award at Kogi Youth Parley

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Adoza Bello, is set to receive an award of excellence in recognition of his contributions to peace and security during his tenure in office.
The honour will be conferred at the Youth Security Roundtable Parley scheduled for April 25, 2026, at the Glass house, Government House, Lokoja.
Coordinator of OBIGI 4+4, Comrade Victor MD Kpanaki, who disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday, said the award was in acknowledgement of Bello’s efforts in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“We are proud to recognise former Governor Yahaya Bello for his commitment to maintaining peace and strengthening security architecture in Kogi State,” Kpanaki said.
“His administration recorded significant strides in protecting communities and fostering unity among diverse groups.”
He added that the current governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, will attend the event as Special Guest of Honour.
Kpanaki further noted that the parley, themed “Sustaining and Ensuring Peace in Bassa LGA: 2027 in Focus,” aims to address emerging security concerns in Bassa Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“This gathering will provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue on sustaining peace, particularly as the country approaches another election cycle,” he said. “It is important that communities remain vigilant and united against threats to stability.”
Comrade Joel Oyibo Salihu is expected to serve as Guest of Honour at the event.
Other dignitaries expected include the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara; the Kogi State Auditor-General, Hon. Okala Yusuf Yakubu; Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah; Member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Gowon Haruna; and Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area, Hon. Theophilus Danjuma Adama.
Kpanaki added that several other prominent Nigerians will attend the parley, which is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
He also noted that one of the highlights of the event will be the recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in various fields.
“This parley is not only about discussions,” he said. “It is also an opportunity to celebrate excellence and encourage leaders and citizens alike to continue contributing to peace and development in their communities.”
