Obi congratulates, rallies support for Soludo

The 2019 Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Wednesday congratulated the Anambra State governor-elect, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, for winning the 2021 governorship election in the state.

Obi, who is a former Governor of Anambra State, in a statement by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem, also called on the indigenes and residents of Anambra State to support Soludo to return Anambra to “her former glory as the ‘Light of the nation.’”

Obi said, “I Congratulate Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on winning the gubernatorial election. I thank Anambrarians who braved all odds and came out to perform their civic duties.

“I urge them to support the in-coming Governor through prayers and other legitimate means to see that Anambra returns to her former glory as the “Light of the Nation.” Most importantly, I shall continue to commit the state into God’s hands for His will to be done at all times.”

The Returning Officer for 2021 Anambra governorship election, Florence Obi, had in the early hours of Wednesday at INEC headquarters, Awka the Anambra State capital, declared Soludo the winner of the election.

APGA won 19 out of 21 local governments; PDP won one local government and YPP won 1 local government.

Total number of registered voters 2,246,663.8; Total number of accredited voters 253,388; Total number of valid votes 241,523; Total number of rejected votes 8,108 while Total number of votes cast is 249,631
