The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has intervened in the ongoing cold war between the Obajana Communities and the Dangote Cement PLC.
The Chairman who had earlier visited the Communities on 23rd December, 2024 to restore order following an incident that led to the death of a member of the Community today convened a meeting between the affected Community and the representative of the Dangote cement PLC to find an amicable solution to forestall the impending crisis brewing up.
In his contribution, Comrade Adamu insists that even though life cannot be paid for, the Company must compensate the families of the deceased and injured so as to calm the frayed nerves of the communities. He mandated the Kabeyesi to put heads together and agreed terms for compensation.
During the meeting, the Lokoja LG Chairman urged the Youths of the Communities to sustain the nascent peace enjoyed by the people of Lokoja LG by allowing the wisdom, logic and reason of elders prevail.
He assured the communities that the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is keen on safe guarding the lives and properties of all residents as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. He appealed to all stakeholders involved to join hands with His Excellency, Alhaji Ododo to maintain peace and allow for peaceful resolution.
