Oba Solomon Owoniyi Congratulates Kogi Speaker, admonishes him to be magnanimous in victory


 

The Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Traditional Council, HRM Oba (Dr.) Solomon Owoniyi has congratulated the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections in 2023, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole over his victory at the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

 

The respected monarch disclosed this in his palace yesterday when Matthew Kolawole and some of his supporters visited him to appreciate his prayers and support for them.

According to him, he urged the Speaker to be magnanimous in victory by extending an Olive branch to people who contested alongside him, stressing that since whatever happened is still within their party.

He said as a traditional ruler, his duty is to maintain peace and tranquility within his domain hence his appeal to all politicians and their followers during and after electioneering period to eschew violence and promote peaceful, adding that politics should be used for the development of the community not otherwise.

Earlier while appreciating the Monarch for his fatherly roles and advice, the Speaker said he was on national assignment to Ekiti when the judgment of his name inclusion into the INEC list by the Court of Appeal in Abuja was delivered and going by the joy and happiness the judgment brought to members of the APC family in the Constituency, they came to Iyamoye to welcome him home as a candidate of the party for the Federal Constituency.

According to him, as the father of the community, he decided to come and pay homage and also appreciate his efforts so far, stressing that it is not yet a campaign but to commend his monumental support.

He said the campaign train will soon come back to the palace to pay him a courtesy visit which will signify the commencement of campaign programs for all the candidates of the ruling party from president to the house of assembly.

Those present at the palace include, Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny of Mopamuro state Constituency in the State Assembly, Vice chairperson, Kabba/Bunu LGA, Councilors, Hon. Gabriel Ojo, Hon Sunday Ojo, Hon. Raphael Okomoda, Barrister Boluromi Emmanuel, APC Chairman, Vice Chairman, women leaders, youth leaders, party stalwarts.
