Nwifuru Urges Ebonyians To Strive For Excellence In Chosen Profession, As SAN, Nkwegu Confers Chieftaincy Title

The Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has urged people of the State to strive for excellence in their chosen profession for the good of the State.
The Governor gave the advise during the civic reception of Izzi first Indigenous senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Barr. Luke Ogbagaegwu Nkwegu by Izzi lawyers forum at Remeritona hotel and suite in Abakaliki, the State capital.
The Governor who commended the legal luminary for his divine elevation, expressed confidence that he would deliver creditably, while describing his elevation as a big gift to the people of Izzi clan and the State at large.
Reflecting on the importance of the legal profession, the Governor noted that the path to becoming a lawyer eventually a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is one of extreme discipline and intellectual rigor.
According to him “In the faculty of law, you are not just writing exams to pass; you are learning to practice.
That is why they call themselves ‘learned.’ A lawyer must be a very careful person because he knows the weight of the law,” the Governor said
The Governor challenged other professionals to emulate Barr. Nkwegu’s character, content, and brilliance, stressing the need for them to move beyond politics and focus on professional excellence that can provide a lasting legacy for their children.
In an interview with Journalists, Barr. Luke Nkwegu, SAN, disclosed the rigorous processes passed through before joining the legal elite.
“SAN is not a position you can bribe your way to” he added
He dismissed any notions of “shortcuts” to the rank, emphasizing that the title of SAN is a badge of unblemished character.
He urged young lawyers to be consistent and determined in life while promising never to betray the confidence reposed on him.
On his part, the former minister of State power and steel Chief Goddy Ogbaga congratulated Barr. Luke Nkwegu on his elevation to the highest rank in the legal profession and prayed God to give him more wisdom, good health and long life to do exploit in his new assignment.
On his part, the Commissioner for works in Ebonyi State Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam praised Governor Nwifuru for creating an environment where professionals can thrive and encouraged youth not to settle for a first degree but to “upgrade their intellectual abilities.”
In the same vein, the member representing Abakaliki North Constituency in Ebonyi State Hon. Victor Nwoke who expressed joy on the elevation of the legal icon, noted that he was the schoolmate of the celebrant while urging youths to shun drug abuse, cultism and show commitment and excellence in all their dealings for the betterment of their lives.
In furtherance, the NBA chairman Abakaliki brach Barr. Ede Samuel Ede described the feat as a reward for hard work and a source of pride for the NBA in the State while pledging their support to the SAN at all times.
Adding his voice, a business mogul Chief Siemon Aziewa hails Governor Nwifuru for creating an enabling environment for excellence to thrive and urged Ebonyi people to pursue excellence in what ever they do for a better society.
The emotional core of the event was captured by Barrister Sunday Ununu, Principal Big Bird Chambers, who shared a long standing history with the celebrant dating back to his secondary school days in SS1. He described the elevation as a victory for the entire legal community in the South East region.
Guest speakers urged the public to join the fight against corruption, refusal to offer bribes or bypass legal procedures and ensure that the excellence represented by the new Senior Advocate of Nigeria becomes the standard for all in Ebonyi State.
