NMA Kogi lauds efforts of Gov Ododo on New Minimum wage, prompt salary payments.

 

… Urge him to declare State of emergency on brain drain, pay CONMESS 2023, Mass transit buses to cushion hardship.

The NMA Kogi State was full of praises for the workers friendly, masses loving and progressive workaholic Governor,, His Excellency Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In a statement narrating all his efforts to improve the standards of health care delivery in the state through many of his programs raging from distribution of new health equipments and facilities.

The NM also praised him for the distribution of drugs across the local government, flag off of various health programs, Malaria Prevention and improvement in the Kogi State Health Insurance and Primary Health Care.

They equally praised the Governor for the recent massive support for the Medical Outreach in Okene and ultimately the New Minimum wage passed with tax holiday for a year.

In a communique signed by the Chairman, Dr Aazee Jimoh and Dr Freeman Uche Chucks, the association commended His Excellency on his efforts as regards improvement of primary health care centres, extension of the health insurance scheme to the informal sector and ultimately extending the good gesture to the physically challenged people of the state.

The MMA said it is a testament that the Governor’s policies are people oriented, masses friendly and a proof that Kogi State is being led by a capable, passionate and visionary leadership acknowledged the great development.

The NMA Kogi State passionately appealed to His Excellency to declare a state of emergency on internal brain drain in the state which has seen many doctors working in the state crossing over to the Federal Hospital and other states for greener pastures due to the continuous widening salary gap between them and their counterparts.

The Chairman noted that NMA is thankful to the state Government on the efforts made so far since assumption of office which has shown that the Governor is passionate about taking the health sector to an enviable heights and also by extension the efforts by the previous administration to stem the tide of internal brain drain.

The MMA also urge the Governor to prioritize payment of CONMESS 2023 which has been submitted to him through the Honorable Commissioner for Health.

Narrowing the salary gap between federal and state workers through implementation of the revised CONMESS still remains the most potent way to retain the current doctors in the state, attract more doctors into the state and provide a fertile and enabling environment for the graduating medical doctors from the state to stay and contribute to improving health care delivery in Kogi State.

The NMA Kogi State also calls on the State Government to procure mass transit buses to cushion the hardship on the citizens due to current economic realities which has been hampering regular clinic visits by patients making them prevent the severe cases complications of hospitals.

MMA expressed satisfaction that Kogi State is always one of the first few state in the nation to implement developmental policies in health sector, therefore called .on the Governor to join those few state like Delta, Ekiti, Ondo, Kebi, Borno that has implemented equalization of salaries of doctors of state employ with those of Federal.

The Chairman assures the Governor of NMA continued support, dedication and commitment to his government, expressed readiness for productive partnership anytime the association is called upon.
