It is with profound gratitude to Almighty God that I use this medium to congratulate the good people of Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency, Okun Nation, Kogi West Senatorial District and Nigerians on the auspicious occasion of our nation’s 61st Independence anniversary.
As we mark this unique day of our country’s independence, amidst the preponderance of diverse challenges of development that has envelope the entire nation, we should still thank Almighty God for His abiding grace, mercy and love upon us as a people and country.
On this special day of our evolution as a country, I counsel that as we thank God for the gift of life, and for sparing our lives from all evils in the land, it is a time for sober reflection. In the past few years, Nigerians have never had it so bad and terrible.
Nigerians on a daily basis, have despondency, despair, regrets and neglect writing on their faces. Regrettably, wanton destruction of farmlands, properties, regular killings, arson, kidnapping and other unimaginable negative occurrences have now become regular, and almost permanent fixtures in the country. From the North, to the South, East and West, it is the same ugly, gory and nefarious stories.
More worrisome is the level of hopelessness amongst Nigerians, which is predicated on the unfortunate, unbelievable depth of insincerity, deceit and half-truths by the government of the day, as well as the fast-paced perfidy that has now become the new order.
While today’s sad realities are fast gliding; in monumental proportions, from bad to worst, I urge us all not to lose hope but stay strong, rekindle our faith in Almighty God, and believe that we shall experience positive changes and development in our dear country, and in our individual lives. As a nation and people, I strongly believe that the gracious blessings and good tidings of Almighty God shall be released upon every state, city, town, community, village and settlement in Nigeria. The peace, unity, tranquility and development that has become very rare, scarce ingredients of true nationhood; due to apparent inertia, obvious disconnect, inconsistent policies and serial failure of the ruling party, will come back to our beloved country.
The light and glory of God Almighty shall be released upon our nation in such an unfathomable way, depth and dimension, such that within a short time, as peace, unity, growth and development becomes our new song, Nigeria will not only recover her lost glory, but assume her God-ordained status and position in the comity of nations.
