Nigeria Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum Successfully attends the 15th Abuja International Trade Fair

The Nigeria Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum (NBBTF) made it’s debut along side the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja and facilitated several engagements and visits to the High Commission stand at the 15th Abuja International Trade Fair which held between November 24th and 6th December, 2020 at the trade fair Centre, Airport Road Abuja, Nigeria.

 

The trade fair which was organized by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) was earlier postponed due to the Covid -19 pandemic. The theme of the 15th edition was ‘ Trade and Commerce Beyond Borders’.

The fair had NBBTF facilitate exhibitors, visitors and potential buyers and sellers of Bangladeshi products on display at the Bangladesh Stand.

During the Fair, the NBBTF President sensitized large numbers of persons and businesses who appreciated the advent of NBBTF and expressed the desire for further facilitation on means and how to access products of Bangladesh Origin especially in the Ceramics, Jute bags and value chain, pharmaceuticals, agricultural technologies and ready made garments.

On the sideline, NBBTF took time to educated potential members of the Forum on how to enlist as members and the benefits with establishment of tracking mechanism on the registered visitors and CEOs of the companies that showed interest as potential investors and importers.

During one of the days, NBBTF received (30 November, 2020), Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman, First Secretary and Acting High Commissioner to explore the NBBTF focal Sectors with satisfaction.

The NBBTF was established to promote, enable and orchestrate bilateral trade and business between Nigeria and Bangladesh with the long term vision to create and establish the Nigeria Bangladesh trade and technogy City.
This NBBTF believes, will be mutually beneficial and to pursue the goals of ‘Economic Diplomacy’ of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh through the High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.

The usual participation of the High Commission at Trade Fairs and Cultural events signals the Deep interest and commitment of the High Commission of Bangladesh to the enthronement of enduring and expanded trade relations between our two friendly nations. HE. MD Shameeem Ahsan, ndc, immediate past High Commissioner and now, Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman, First Secretary and Acting High Commissioner gave their best and have instituted what might be described as “Golden Era” of Nigeria Bangladesh relations dating back to 1974.

On the whole, The High Commission had a great outing with subtle dexterity displayed in the presentation to the evolving Nigerian consumers. There was a high utility value and appetite for the wide range of Bangladeshi displays that gave a good account of the emerging economy status of Bangladesh. Among the displays are the quality pharmaceuticals, ceramic products, jute and leather products, ready-made garments & knitwear, handicrafts, tea, electrical and home appliances, agro-products like fruit juices as well as other products donated by Bangladeshi prominent companies including Walton Group, Monno Ceramics, ACI Ltd. Mondol Group, etc.

The Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria has always
In line with the directive of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, vigorously pursued the economic diplomacy aside the political relations, as a component of relations with the host country. This has been the consistent task since 2018.

As the largest economy in Africa with a population of close to 200 million people, Nigeria stands to benefit from expanded trade in over ten sectors with Bangladesh who has high comparative advantage over Nigeria in terms of manufacturing, technology and investment funding to support Nigeria’s scaling up efforts.
