Niger state Judicial service commission Organizes Re-treat for Magistrates and Sharia Court judge’s, aimed at promotion exams.

The Niger state Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has tasks Directors, Magistrates and Sharia Court judge’s in the state to prepare themselves for the, forthcoming promotion examination and the task ahead when they are eventually promoted.

 

The Chief Judge who was
represented by Justice Mikhail at a Re-treat organized by Niger state judicial service commission at the High Court premises,said that the aim of the Re-treat is to remind and acquint the participants with regulations, professional and general knowledge on the job in order to prepare them for promotion examination.

Chief Judge stated that, the Re-treat been first of it’s kind, Magistrates and Sharia Court judge’s as before have not to undergo promotion examination before they are promoted to the next grade level, that was so because of the absence of any regulatory or any subsidiary legislation to that effects.

“Chief Judge Halma Abdulmalik in her efforts to ensure a verile, competent, productive, merit base work force deemed it necessary to implement and enforce retreat and promotion examination to determine the suitability or otherwise of  Magistrates and Sharia Court judge’s for promotion”.

“these are structured measures for assessing their capacity on the job, it would be highly deverstating for them and the institution if not checked”.

She called on the participants to avails themselves the opportunity for self appraisal, to take stock of their performance on the profession and the best global practices in the Justice delivery system.

She then urge them to participate actively and contribute meaningfully in all the sessions, adding that with the caliber of resource person’s, there is no doubt that they will benefit immensely from the retreat and shall be well equipped for the forthcoming promotion examination or interview.

Earlier in her welcome address a magistrate and a participant, Hajiya Fatima Zahra K. Mohammed, said that the exercise would instilled apprehension into the minds of the participants and the staff’s alikes.

She used the medium to make it categorically clear that the innovation is not targeted at any individual or to stigmatized any personel, rather than, it is a standardized criteria to improve the performance of all the staff as stipulated in the JSC regulations 2020.

Hajiya Fatima then commends the Chief Judge and Judicial service commission for organizing the retreat,adding that it will boast their performance and said that the entire participants shall do their best to reap from the workshop ahead of the coming promotion examination.
