NAKOSS ADVOCATES BONDING OF MEDICAL STUDENTS, PAYS VISIT TO COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH
NAKOSS National President, Dr Jeremiah W. Elukpo, led a delegation to meet with the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Hon. Adams Adeiza Abdulazeez to advocate for implementation of bond for medical students to curb scarcity of human resource in Kogi State.
The delegation which comprised of NAKOSS Executive members and also members from Kogi State Medical Students Association (KOMSA) met with the Commissioner to discuss about how the State Government can enter into a bond agreement with medical students to ensure they work with the State after induction.
Dr JW Elukpo appreciated the Commissioner for holding firm the Health Sector of Kogi State and informed him of the bond agreement which was signed with the State Government when he was National President of KOMSA.
He mentioned that his Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has always maintained that the Youth & Students are his primary constituency and will be glad with this wonderful initiative as the State will benefit maximally.
Dr. Abdulazeez appreciated the NAKOSS President for not relenting in the pursuit of medical students bond since he was President of KOMSA and now President of NAKOSS.
He stated that his Ministry is already working on modalities to bond medical students as there is scarcity of Doctors in Nigeria and Kogi State in particular. He further mentioned that the issue of bond is not new to him and that his Ministry is already working on how Kogi State will produce more Doctors and also initiate the bond process.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health concluded by informing NAKOSS that the bonding of medical students will come to a reality as the State is in dire need of Doctors.
