Mosque Inauguration: Sultan of Sokoto Harps On Respect for Leaders, Rule of Law


 

 

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saa’d Abubakar (111) has inaugurated the newly donated Mosque to Federal University, Lokoja, with a call on Nigerians to embrace respect for leaders, the rule of law and religious harmony.

 

The new Alhaji Abdullahi Habib Memorial Mosque was donated to Federal University, Lokoja by Dr. Maimuna Habib in remembrance of her late husband, Abdullahi Habib.

The Sultan of Sokoto represented by the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Shehu Cindo, while commissioning the Mosque at the University Main Campus in Lokoja on Saturday, described the gesture as worthy of emulation by other spirited individuals across the country.

“We have to pray to God that this gesture should be sustained in fulfilment of our spiritual callings

“We should also be proud of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi who is doing very well. He has administered the institution better than before and we should continue to pray that his future should be better

“It therefore, becomes obligatory for us to respect our leaders, the rule of law and religious harmony to achieve peaceful coexistence as well as prayers for our leaders, Progress of our nation and God’s provision for citizens to contribute towards the development of their fatherland”

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi commended the donor of the Mosque for her spirit of philanthropic and patriotic which he said would go a long way in fostering unity, peaceful coexistence and spiritual callings in the institution.

“I remain grateful to God Almighty that this project was initiated and completed under my tenure in the University. May God continue to bless the family of the donor

‘My commendation also goes to the Sultan of Sokoto for making time out of his tight schedule to come and commission the Mosque for use”

In his Keynote address, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Oloyede Ishaq who was represented by the Director of Legal Services of the organization, Abdulwahap Oyedokun, appreciated the family of the donor of the Mosque saying that the gesture would benefit the University community tremendously.

According to the JAMB Registrar, “the importance of the donated Jumaat Mosque in an University environment cannot be over emphasized as it would go a long way in impacting useful knowledge and spiritual moulding”

Also Speaking, the donor of the worshipping Mosque, Dr. Maimuna Habib thank God for the realisation of the project within fifteen months

She disclosed that the new Mosque is third and the biggest that her family has donated to communities in memory of her late husband, Abdullahi Habib.

“Aside building of Mosques to the needy communities, the family of late Abudullahi Habib also embarks on provision of potable water and electricity to rural communities

“My husband lived a very simple life, he was humble and lover of religious activities and a pillar of our community

“He died on the 31st of October, 2021 and the Mosque just commissioned is a testament of his love and dedication”
