MMPN Felicitates With Imam Abdullahi Abubakar over Conferment of MFR


 

Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), North Central Zone Felicitates with Imam Abdullahi Abubakar over the National award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) Conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

A Statement jointly signed on behalf of the zone by the Kogi State Chapter Coordinator and Secretary Mallam Muhammad Yabagi and the Secretary Bilkisu Abdullahi-Yahuza respectively, stated that the Zonal Coordinator, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar congratulated Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, describing the honour as well deserved.

According to the statement Imam Abdullahi Abubakar (MON), an 86-year-old Muslim cleric in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, received a National Honour this week for risking his life to shelter 262 Christians in a mosque during a clash in Yelwa Gindi Village in Plateau State.

It would be recalled that, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, Imam Abdullahi Abubakar was honoured by the United States with the Religious Freedom Award for saving the lives of close to 300 Christians in his mosque in Plateau state.

The statement also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for recognizing Imam Abdullahi’s doggedness in risking his life to shelter 262 Christians, other senior media practitioners for the prestigious honours, and for ensuring peaceful co-existence, religious harmony and acceptability in Nigeria.
