The President of Magongo Development Association, Akpata Jordan Alaba, has commended Hon. Bode Ogunmola for his voluntary withdrawal from the Ogori/Magongo State Constituency race, describing the move as a rare display of sacrifice and statesmanship in today’s politics.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Akpata said that by stepping aside, Hon. Ogunmola placed the unity, peace, and long-term interest of the Ogori-Magongo people above personal ambition. He noted that the decision has far-reaching implications for the constituency, as it preserves the rotational understanding that has sustained peace between Ogori and Magongo for years, heals old wounds, rebuilds trust between the two communities, and gives the APC a united front ahead of the coming election.
According to the MDA President, history will remember Hon. Bode Ogunmola as a leader who chose brotherhood over battle. He added that the people of Ogori-Magongo remain grateful for the gesture, which he said reflects maturity and commitment to collective progress.
Hon. Ogunmola had earlier formally notified the APC leadership of his decision to withdraw as the party’s candidate for Ogori/Magongo State Constituency, citing the interest of the party and his community as the guiding factors.
