MAGONGO DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION COMMENDS GOV. ODODO FOR INTERVENTION IN OGORI/MAGONGO ASSEMBLY RACE

…Group hails Governor’s statesmanship for preserving rotational agreement, peace

The Magongo Development Association, MDA, has commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what it described as a statesmanlike intervention and bold leadership that led to the voluntary resignation of Hon. Bode Ogunmola from the Ogori/Magongo State Constituency assembly race.

In a statement signed by its President, Akpata Jordan Alaba, the MDA said the Governor’s decision demonstrates visionary leadership and a firm commitment to justice, equity, and peaceful coexistence. By prioritizing the long-standing rotational understanding between Ogori and Magongo, the Governor showed that governance is not just about power, but about building bridges and preserving unity among communities.

The association noted that the Governor’s timely intervention de-escalated tension that threatened decades of peace in the area, strengthened internal democracy within the APC by ensuring fairness to all members, restored trust between Ogori and Magongo, and rekindled hope in party leadership. It added that the action has now positioned Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area for a united front ahead of the elections.

“Your Excellency, your action has proven you are a governor for all, and not just a section. Magongo people remain grateful and fully behind your administration,” the statement read.

Hon. Bode Ogunmola had earlier formally withdrawn as the APC candidate for Ogori/Magongo State Constituency, citing the interest of the party and his community as the guiding reason for his decision.
