Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency: Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye Trains, Empowers 200 Constituents With Fishery, Poultry Grants

 

 

In his commitment to human capital development aimed at job and wealth creation amongst his constituents, Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye on Monday facilitated a training and empowerment programme for young men and women on entrepreneurship in fishery, poultry and Goat production businesses in Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency, Kogi state.

 

The programme, according to the office of the Rep member, was part of the first batch of line-up of empowerment programmes designed to boost multidimensional Agro businesses and other sectors in Lokoja-Kogi.

 

The programme was executed by Federal College of Agriculture, Federal ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in collaboration with U and S Resources Services Ltd, sponsored by Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye, Member, federal House of Representative,
Lokoja-Kogi kk constituency.

 

The beneficiaries received training on how to establish fishery business – including how to handle fingerlings till maturity age.
They were also taught in details about the types of feed to breed the fish with, how to feed them, the kind of supplement and hygiene required for optimal health and growth of the fish.

One of the Resources person and trainer, Yusuf Adamu commended the empowerment gesture by the member representing Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aguye, describing it as a potential game changer in the lives of the beneficiaries.

According to him, farming of any kind is a great economic booster, both for the farmers and the society at large.

According to him, “I can attest that if you are very dedicated, fishery can take you out of poverty. So, I encourage the beneficiaries of this training and empowerment programme to be very committed to this business and within a short period of time, they also will testify. It would offer them the needed opportunity for self employment and job creation too.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of Lokoja local government council, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu commended the member of House of Representative, Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye For putting up the unique programme, “his aim is not just to give people fish, but to also teach them how to fish. He will continue to facilitate skills acquisition and entrepreneurship opportunities for our people, we appreciate him, he stressed.

He however applauded the landmark achievements of the present governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo who has graciously implemented the national minimum wage to workers in Kogi state.

One of the beneficiaries, Suleman Adamu from Kogi KK local Govt, said, “I’m thanking God Almighty for the person of Hon. Suleman Aguye, who is a God sent to the people of Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency to lead the people and assist them in ways that would alleviate poverty, with his wise empowerment initiatives.

Another participant from Lokoja local govt area, Hajia Fatima Isah said she couldn’t contain her joy regarding the wonderful event and first of its kind sponsored by Hon. Hon. Aguye, saying the empowerment programme’, provided indepth knowledge on fish farming which will empower the women to support their families financially especially in this harsh economy.
