An appeal has gone to royal fathers and community heads in Kwara State to work towards peaceful coexistence of farmers and herdsmen in their communities and put an end to the incessant farmer and herdsmen clashes in the State.
The appeal was made by the NSCDC Commandant in Kwara State Makinde Iskil Ayinla while reacting to the two separate Fulani and farmers bloody clashes recorded in Alapa and Patigi towns of Asa and Edu local government areas of the State over the weekend.
According to the NSCDC spokesman in the State Babawale Zaid Afolabi the Commandant frowned at the geometrical rate of Fulani and herders clashes in some of the communities in the State adding that efforts are ongoing by the corps to meet the royal fathers and village heads in order to find lasting solution to the crises.
” it will be recalled that on Saturday 07/01/2022, one Mohammed Aliu, 42 of Tankpafu village came to report how Fulani herdsmen stormed his farm and uprooted all his cassava plantation to feed thier cattles and also on Saturday there was a bloody clash between farmers and a Fulani heder in which both of them sustained serious matchete injuries” Babawale narrated.
He explained further that security has been beefed up in those communities adding that there will soon be a stakeholders forum that will comprise representatives of the village heads, Fulani herders, farmers and the security agencies in order to find lasting solution to the crises.
