A coalition of youth and women groups in Kogi West Senatorial District has endorsed Senator Sunday Steve Karimi for re-election in 2027, citing what they called his “tangible, people-centered” interventions across the district’s seven local government areas.
The endorsement came Thursday during a constituency engagement convened by the Kogi Progressive Stakeholders’ Forum in Kabba, the senatorial headquarters.
The meeting reviewed Karimi’s first-term performance and set out mobilisation plans ahead of the next election cycle.
Otunba Yomi Johnson, convener of the forum, and Alhaji Issa Ismaila, secretary, said the group’s decision was unanimous after assessing the senator’s record in office.
Both urged constituents to maintain support for Karimi’s policies and programs, stressing “track record, capacity, and character” as the basis for their position.
“Kogi West must now elect leaders on competence, not sentiment. Not by who dances louder. Not by outside influence. Senator Karimi represents the shift our future demands,” Johnson told the gathering.
Women leaders at the meeting praised the senator’s projects in education, health, and empowerment, describing them as visible across the senatorial district. They committed to “total mobilisation of women and grassroots structures” for his second-term bid.
In a resolution issued after the meeting, the forum declared Karimi “the choice of Kogi West youths and women for Senate in 2027,” adopting the slogan: “Karimi Walahi — Second Term for Consolidation.”

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi currently represents Kogi West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly.
