Two-term member of the House of Representatives, Sunday Karimi has dispeled the rumors making the round that he has defected from the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was contained in a press statement he personally signed and made available to news reporters at his home in Gudu Abuja and Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

The statement quoted Karimi who was the first amongst the aspirants to purchase APC nomination forms for the Kogi West senate primary as saying that “My attention has been drawn to the mischievous rumour and unfortunate news item being circulated by some of my detractors that I, Hon Karimi Sunday Steve has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to actualize my Senatorial Ambition.

“I wish to state unequivocally that I have not, will not and have no intention of defecting from the All Progressive Congress to any other party, not alone the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“He noted that “the rumour is untrue and should be completely disregarded. It is completely false and being spread by mischievous makers who are jittery about my imminent victory in the forthcoming Primary Elections.

“The peddlers of this rumour are terrified by my accomplishments and wide acceptability within the Party and therefore are desperate to scuttle my victory in the soon to come Primary Election.

“Unfortunately for them, their failure is imminent and no blackmail or maligning of my character can stop my success, by the special grace of God.

“Like I have said before, I cannot leave the Known for the unknown. The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the most powerful and dominant Political Party in Africa and every sane human being would be proud to be a Member. Why would I want to abandon my membership of such a Party of Progressives for a largely unknown Party?

“The rumour of my defection is a figment of the imagination of the sponsors and peddlers of that rumour.

“At the moment, I am in talks with my Solicitors over the imperativeness of filing a libellous suit against the sponsors and peddlers of the said rumour.

“I hereby call on all Party Faithful, Delegates of our great Party, to disregard the rumour, as same is unfortunate, entirely false and a calculated attempt to derail my progress within the Party.

“It is being peddled by unpopular candidates who are desperate to hold on to Power in Kogi West Senatorial District”.
