Kogi West: Hon. Karimi Meet Women Groups in Lokoja

Women traders, small scale business owners, would top my priority if elected.

Hon. Sunday Karimi has assured that women traders and small scale business owners would have a place of pride in his representation if he is elected to the Senate in 2023.

The leading candidate for Kogi West Senatorial seat, Hon. Sunday Karimi made the disclosure at a town hall meeting with Women Groups in Ward A of Lokoja LGA, says the voting strength of women in the Ward will be adequately compensated for there support.

The Town Hall Meeting was held with Ebira Women Group in Ward A, Madam Allah Dey Women, Barracks Women Group, Lokongoma Women/Workers Village and Hajiya Marka Group Women at the Lokoja LG Town Hall.

Hon. Karimi assured the women of his desire to create wealth for all the people irrespective of their educational background or region, assured that there income and businesses will blossom if elected.

While speaking, he said: “We have done it before when I was in the House of Representatives and it paid off so, we will do it again and even better this time around to improve the lives of our women.

While I was a House of Representatives Member, Women and small scale business owners were part of the fulcrum that made us had a successful representation that is part of our legacy today.”

“We knew that all of our people can never get white collar jobs because some never even wanted it and the jobs are not even there again for all of the graduates we’re having daily. So, we have programmes for those who are their own bosses to excel in their chosen careers without necessarily waiting for the white collar Government jobs that are almost no where to be found again.”

He continued: “In our resolves to achieving that, we opened an account where an initial #40,000,000 (fourty million naira only) start up capital was deposited and a committee that cut across Yagba was set up to oversee the activities for transparency, inclusiveness and accountability. The aim of this programme was to allow those interested in it have access to loans without no interest so as to help them in their various trades and businesses. We will continue this programme but with a more robust commitment, involvement and openness that will cut across all the three federal constituencies.

We will coordinate this such of program that those involved in the trading and businesses will be the committee that will oversee the programme across the district such that they can distinguish between those that are genuine and otherwise and so that they can manage this efficiently and maximize the potentials in it.”

He concluded by assuring the cheerful and joyous women that this is no longer a period where public officeholders will not be held accountable for their positions as he charged them to go and collect their PVC which will be the only thing that empowered them by the law to exercise their franchise and to vote APC in the forthcoming general elections from “top-to-bottom” he concluded.
