KOGI WEST 2023: Karimi’s ticket is not about party but fair and equitable distribution of power… Lokoja/Kogi Elders


 

Says Lokoja/Koto is next after Yagba Federal Constituency.

 

Following the recent press release purportedly made by a fictitious, non-existent and sponsored Lokoja/Koto APC stakeholders alleging dissatisfaction against the APC Kogi West Senatorial Candidate, Hon Sunday Karimi, a group of elders across all political parties in Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency have refuted the claims and described it as cheap propaganda sponsored by opposition political party to achieve wicked intentions which is against the unity and peaceful coexistence of the people of the senatorial district.

 

The group says such a desperate attempt to misinform the public about the position and decision of the people of Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency on the forthcoming Kogi West senate election is a recipe for crisis in the future.

The elders under the auspices of Concerned Lokoja/Kogi Elders Council says it is therefore time to tell the whole world the position of the majority of people of the federal constituency in order to set records straight. The elders says Hon Sunday Karimi is not just the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress but a candidate of fairness, unity and progress of Kogi West. In a press release signed by Alh Ibrahim Osuku, Chief Bayero Benjamin and Alh Isah Bature, the elders contend that it is not negotiable neither is it a matter of contest that the people of Lokoja/Kogi have resolved to settle for a Candidate of Yagba Federal Constituency as the next Senator of Kogi West. They said the people have resolved for Hon Sunday Karimi being the Yagba Candidate with the electoral value and political base to win.

The group says Kogi West is divided into three federal constituency and the only Federal Constituency yet to produce a Senator since 1999 is Yagba and that they resolved for Yagba on the ground of fairness, equity and justice, saying the Sunday Karimi ticket represent the political unity of Kogi west, which will be a panacea to ask for a Governor of Kogi West extraction. The elders says that it is wicked, unpatriotic, unreasonable and unthinkable for PDP to field someone from Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu after the Federal Constituency have been holding the Senate seat for the past sixteen years uninterruptedly. They called on the elders of the zone to speak the truth to Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu in the interest of unity of Kogi West.

The press release says that after Yagba Federal constituency, the Senate seat with return to Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency in the interest of fairness and peace.

The statement cautioned people from Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency not to destroy their future by supporting Hon TJ Yusuf of PDP, they said T.J Yusuf’s ticket represent disunity, greed, selfishness and wickedness against the unity and progress of the senatorial district because his federal constituency have been in the Senate for more than fifteen years. They said the insistence by Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu to contest the Senate will be revisited against the federal constituency in the future.

The elders called on the traditional and religious leaders of the zone to wade into the matter for the peace and unity of the senatorial district
