Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja Inaugurates New SUG, NAKOSS President’s.

The Students Union Government and Executives of National Association of Kogi State Students, Kogi State Polytechnic for 2024/2025 session
has been inaugurated.

 

The election that ushered in the new SUG and NAKOSS Executives was held on the Saturday 26th October, 2024.

Oluwadamilola Enimokanyi Janet emerged the SUG President while Abubakar Isah Sheriff emerged the NAKOSS President for the 2024/2024 academic session.

In his remarks, the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo charged the newly inaugurated Executives to learn the art of leadership using their new office as well as justify their emergence.

He described the election that produced the first female SUG President, Oluwadamilola, as commendable, described governance as one that does not have limitation.

Prof. Ogbo lauded the electoral committee for a good job that ushered in the new leadership, praised the co-contestants for accepting the outcome of the election process.

The Rector cautioned the students against being used by mischief makers within and outside the institution,  urged the students and new Executives to be vigilant so as not to be misled.

The Rector disclosed that he has been able to utilize 75% of the internal generated revenue of the institution for the development of the institution, praised Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo for his support to the Polytechnic.

He urged the newly elected president to carry along the co-contestants, pointing out that the students have all demonstrated leadership that should be emulated.

While noting that the election that ushered in the executive is the fourth in a row under his administration, assured that his administration will continue to make the welfare and well-being a priority.

The Rector also charged the new Executives on transparency and accountability, assured that the students handbook, constitution would be reviewed to enable the democratic process to seek election by the student union.

In her speech, Oluwadamilola Janet expressed appreciation to her Co contestant, described her emergence as one to face the challenge facing the Union, solicited for unity of purpose of members.

She charged the student Members to show more of resilience, affirmed that working together, the Student Union would achieve their objectives.

She promised to make students welfare, harassment and improved academic pursuit as her priorities, however admonished the student to be good ambassadors of the Polytechnic.

Similarly, the NAKOSS President, Abubakar Isah Sheriff solicited for an office space, said his administration is committed to ensuring that voice of every student is heard.

Earlier in a remarks, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu, the Chairman SUG NAKOSS Electoral Committee commended the students for show of sportsmanship, described the election as one that was keenly contested and within the rules and regulations.

Highlights of the Inauguration was the oath taking ceremony performed by the Director, Legal Services of the Polytechnic, Barr Williams Ameh, for both the SUG and NAKOSS Executives.
