KOGI STATE HEALTH INSURANCE AGENCY SENSITIZES THE LEADERSHIP OF MEDICAL AND HEALTH WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA AND THE NIGERIA UNION OF TEACHERS ON FORMAL SECTOR HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

KOGI STATE HEALTH INSURANCE AGENCY SENSITIZES THE LEADERSHIP OF MEDICAL AND HEALTH WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA AND THE NIGERIA UNION OF TEACHERS ON FORMAL SECTOR HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

Kogi State Health Insurance Agency has sensitized the leadership of the Medical/Health Workers Union of Nigeria and the Nigeria Union or Teachers Kogi State Chapter on the formal health sector insurance plan for Local Government workers in the State.
The sensitization which was organized by the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency at the Nigeria Union of Teachers Conference Hall Lokoja was attended by both the leadership of the unions across the twenty one Local Government Areas of the state.
In a welcome remark, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency Dr Adekunle Aledare said the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo formally launched the Formal Sector Health Insurance plan for the workers at the state level in March 2024 maintaining that the workers of the state since that time have been enjoying the Formal Sector health insurance plan with financial risk protection.
Dr Aledare said in a bid to extend the health insurance plan to Local Government workers the Agency embarked on a sensitization visit to the 21Local Government Areas to orientate workers in the LGA to enroll into the formal sector health insurance plan.
The Executive Secretary said the essence of the sensitization programme is to acquaint the leadership of the unions on the benefits of the Health Insurance plan for the entire Local Government workers in the state.
He thanked the Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Gabriel Amari who doubles as the chairman of the Medical/Health workers Union of Nigeria and his NUT counterpart, Comrade Dauda Yakubu for their support in the enlightenment of the Local Government workers on the benefits of the health insurance.
He assured the leadership of the unions that the Agency is prepared to enroll the Local Government workers within the shortest period. He also called on the Union leaders to enlighten their members and ensure they enroll into the formal sector health insurance plan.
In his remark the Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari thanked the state government ably led by His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for sustaining the Health Insurance plan for the residents of Kogi State. He noted that he was very pleased on the current move of the state health insurance Agency to enroll the Local Government workers in the state into the health insurance plan.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Dauda Yakubu thanked the state government for establishing the Health Insurance Agency. He noted that the health insurance plan for Local Government workers in the state would go a long way in reducing out of pocket health expenditure among the Local Government workers.
Earlier the Chairman of the Board of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Pharm. Suberu Arikochonu thanked the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for sustaining the Health Insurance plan for the residents of Kogi State. He urged the Local Government workers in the state to key into the programme to reduce their medical expenses.
In a closing remark, the Head of Corporate Affairs of the Agency, Maria Aliwo thanked the participants for making out time to participate in the programme.
