KOGI STATE HEALTH INSURANCE AGENCY SENSITIZES KOGI STATE CHAPTER OF THE FEDERATION OF INFORMAL WORKERS’ ORGANIZATION OF NIGERIA ON VITAL CONTRIBUTOR HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

 

The Management of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA) led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Adekunle Aledare today sensitized the leadership of the Kogi State chapter of the Federation of Informal Workers Organization of Nigeria (FIWON), workers who are mostly artisans on the benefits of Health Insurance.

Dr Aledare told the leadership of FIWON that the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo recognizes the key role of the informal sector in the state adding that the governor is much concerned about the health needs of all the members of the informal sector in the state.

The Executive Secretary stated that Kogi State Government established Kogi State Health Insurance Agency to address the health needs of Kogi residents adding that with the increasing cost of health services across the globe health insurance is the best strategy towards reducing the cost of health care services on the people of the state.

Dr Aledare urged FIWON Executives to key into the services of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency adding that it would improve access to quality health care services for their Members and confer financial risk protection to their members.

Earlier, Comr. Maryam Usman Yahaya, SSA on Livelihood Mobilization to the Executive Governor of Kogi State and who also doubles as the State Chairperson, Federation of informal workers, Kogi State chapter of Nigeria, thanked Kogi State government for establishing Kogi State Health Insurance Agency and for giving due recognition to FIWON in the state.

She added that FIWON Members are artisans, who constitute over 90% of the working population of the State, described the informal sector as the engine of the nation’s economy.

Comr. Maryam further stated that the members of FIWON in the state are prepared to key into the Vital contributor Health Insurance plan adding that the programme is of great importance to all the members of FIWON in the state.

The SSA and FIWON Chairperson assured Gov. Ododo of the continued support of members now and in the future.

Other members also applauded the health insurance program and promised to spread the good news to their members
