Kogi State Government signs MOU with Heads of State owned tertiary institutions on health insurance plan for the Students
In a bid to providing access to Qualitative and affordable health care services for the residents of Kogi State, Students inclusive . The Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Heads of the nine state owned tertiary institutions in the state on the implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP).
The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade who signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government applauded the former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for establishing the State Health Insurance Agency. She equally thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for sustaining the Health Insurance Programme in the state.
Dr (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade PHD also noted that the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) would not only boost the health of the students but also ensure better learning outcome
The SGS also called on the management of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency to sensitize the students on the terms and reference of the Programme to ensure the students gets the desired benefits
The SGS also charged the Heads of the tertiary institutions to support the Programme to ensure the Programme achieve its desired objectives in align with the health agenda of the Advanced new direction administration of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo the Chief Servant of Kogi State
In his speech, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Adekunle Aledare thanked the former governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for establishing Kogi State Health Insurance Agency which is today attending to the health needs of Kogi people. He also applauded His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for consolidating on the health insurance programme through his firm political and financial support tothe Agency.
Dr. Aledare stated that TISHIP will provide financial risk protection to students and their families in the course of their studies.He also noted that with TISHIP in place students will benefit from a continuum of care from primary health care services to tertiary health care services
He thanked the Heads of the tertiary institutions for their cooperation throughout the processes which led to the signing of the MOU. He added that the Agency would continue to work in synergy with them to ensure the successful implementation of the programme in their various institutions.
In her closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Prof. Marietu Tenuche said tertiary institutions in the state will work in accordance with the MOU. He thanked the state government for initiating TISHIP which she said would greatly address the health needs of the students in the tertiary institutions in the state.
