KOGI STATE @33:
These Patriots and game changers contributed positively to the growth, security and prosperity of the state .
The edifice built by our past and present nationalists must not fall.
By Otori Ozigi Samuel Ochetengwu.
It goes without saying that our dear state have attained adulthood at 33 with the full potentials of greatness, economic growth and development in all human induces,, abinitio.
Little wonder therefore, that there are several legacy projects dotting the beautiful landscape of the confluence state as evidence of that great heights.
Our dear state can hold its competitive position among her peers founded in 1991 by former president Ibrahim Babangida, sequel to a titanic advocacy for her creation by men and women of good will and good conscience with the right content of character..
These patriots include but not limited to the following personalities namely former Inspector general of police,Alhaji Aliyu.Atta, General Salihu Ibrahim, former chief of army staff , Elder statesman,Alhaji Abdulrahman Okene, General Emmanuel Abisoye.and Chief Sunday Awoniyi, to mention but a few.
There is no gain saying that the past leaders of the state have contributed their quota to the growth of the state over the years.
However , the real growth and development of the state started under the leadership of Prince Abubakar Audu,Alhaji Ibrahim Idris,Capt.Idris Wada and ultimately Alhaji Yahaya Bello in no particular order.
It is safe to ascribe the physical infrastructural development of the state to the immediate past governor of the state , Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is the father of modern Kogi State, with hundreds of iconic legacy projects to his credit.
The.projects include two brand new state Universities namely Confluence University of Science and technology,Osara and Kogi State University,Kabba..
It is noteworthy that academic activities are thriving in these Universities with very encouraging students enrollment figures.
The administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello also constructed the first ever flyover, namely Ganaja overhead bridge in Lokoja and the beautiful edifice known as the Revenue house, the headquarters of KGIRS.
Another legacy projects include the gigantic Reference hospital,Okene and other projects too numerous to mention here in the piece.
There are other individuals who are indigenes of the state who have brought honours and awards to the state in the last 33 years.
Some of these great achievers are the entertainment industry and the sports arena.
We have the likes of Mrs Mercy Johnson Okojie,Art Alade, Sunday Bada, Halima Abubakar and Jahwon etc.
The greatness of the state is also rooted firmly in the professional circle and academic in the country.
The state is blessed with countless Professors, lawyers, bankers, journalists, accountants, pastors, sheikhs and captains of industry, including members of the armed forces and the paramilitary.
On the whole,it is safe to conclude that the state is one of the leading states in the country today in terms of accountability and transparency compliance and water tight security architecture .
Kogi State is a safe haven and peaceful and enabling environment for both local and foreign investors to patronise.
Things can only be better under the present administration of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman who is working tirelessly and assiduously to maintain the tempo of great giant strides of his predecessors in lugard house.
A big toast to Kogi State @ 33.
The sun is rising to brighten up the confluence state.
Long live Kogi State
Long live kogites.
