Kogi Solid Minerals Commissioner Gegu Hails Ohimegye Igu’s PhD Feat, Calls It ‘Wake-Up Call’ for Youth Education
The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, has congratulated His Royal Majesty Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, the Ohimegye of Igu Kingdom, on earning a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Speaking at NSUK’s 8th combined convocation, Engr. Gegu described the monarch’s academic milestone as a “wake-up call for the coming generation to make education and learning a priority.”
He praised the traditional ruler for pursuing knowledge despite his demanding royal duties.
“The reign of the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom has been rewarding, and this new feather will further impact his leadership of Igu Kingdom,” Gegu said.
The Commissioner also congratulated other sons and daughters of Kogi LGA and Kogi State who received certificates, noting their achievements remain a source of pride for the state.
He described HRM Dr. Salihu’s dedication to academic excellence and community development as “truly inspiring.”
