Kogi Police Launch Manhunt After Primary School Teacher Dies Following Assault In Olamaboro

The Kogi State Police Command has commenced a full investigation into a case of culpable homicide following the death of a 30-year-old staff member of Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School, Ugbamaka, in Olamaboro Local Government Area.
According to the Command, the incident was formally reported at the Olamaboro Divisional Headquarters on 25th June, 2026.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on 18th June, 2026, one Abdullahi Ishaka, accompanied by two women, stormed the school premises. They allegedly assaulted Maryam Usman, a staff member, over the discipline of a pupil. The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack.
Maryam Usman was first treated at a hospital in Ugbamaka before being referred to Iko-Ojo Hospital, Okpo, for further medical care. She, however, died on 25th June, 2026.
Following the report, police operatives visited the scene of the incident and the deceased’s residence, where necessary documentation was carried out. The Command said arrangements are ongoing to convey the corpse to the General Hospital, Ankpa, for medical examination and autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene before the arrival of police. The Command stated that efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend them.
“Upon their arrest, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet and comprehensive investigation,” the police said.
The Command has urged members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of the suspects to assist investigators.
