Kogi Police Intercept Vehicle with 342 Wraps of Suspected Indian Hemp in Kabba, Reject ₦5m Bribe
Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have intercepted a vehicle conveying a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp in Kabba and arrested two suspects in connection with the seizure.
The incident occurred on May 9, 2026, during a routine operation by a tactical team along the Kabba axis. The team stopped a Honda Pilot vehicle at a strategic location and found about 342 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp concealed inside.
According to the command, the suspects attempted to compromise the operation by offering the operatives ₦5 million. The bribe was rejected in line with professional standards and operational procedures.
The vehicle and exhibits were secured and transferred to the Area Command Headquarters, Kabba, for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against criminality and protecting lives and property across the state.
The command urged residents to continue providing timely and useful information to support ongoing operations against criminal elements.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued on May 10, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat.
