The Presidential Campaign rally which held in Lokoja yesterday was to say the least a harbinger of greater things to come in shape, size and form. ‘Real’ and ‘interested’ people made it happen all to the glory of God Almighty.
For an organic crowd motivated by anger/pain occasioned by the existing non-performance of their current administrators/representatives for which (reason) you largely disregarded pecuniary considerations, it could arguably be dimensioned as uncommon, groundbreaking and above all, indicative.
Across all spheres of the voting (and other) demographic/s you came out in your huge numbers to abundantly make three clear statements:
– The next election is a referendum on bad governance, terrible representation, multidimensional poverty and bourgeoning inequality.
– The fate of our communion and progress of our union are at stake and cannot stand further compromises.
– Considering the number of non-Party actors at the rally, it’s a verdict that the “let’s do more” mantra is clearly a call to more poverty, more mismanagement and more hardship and must be utterly and totally rejected. After all, do-more of what?
Sequel to the foregoing and on behalf of the wonderful people Kogi East, I register my sincere appreciation for your show of love, huge sacrifices and assure you that your demand for a change of guard was palpably loud and clear: God helping us, we shall succeed resoundingly.
I should use this opportunity to welcome and congratulate the thousands of returnees including HE, Simon Achuba, Hon. Yahaya Karaku and Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam. In the words of a sage, “they have tried two options and now know the better of the two”; PDP.
All said, it is my sincere wish that our rapport, mutual regard and reverence will continue to grow far beyond the spur of the moment.
While thanking God for safe return of everyone, Once more, I say thank you and thank you very much indeed.
