The Forum of Coordinators of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Idah Federal Constituency have received with great delight the template for the upcoming Elective State Congress as the Electoral Committee commences the sales of nominations form.
However, it is pertinent to put it on record that the Federal Constituency which consists of Ibaji, Idah, Ofu and Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Areas are resolute on their stand to produce the next State Chairman in the spirit of justice, equity and harmonious rotation among the three Federal Constituency of the East.
For the purpose of clarity, at the last instance of the informal zoning arrangement bringing the State Chairman to the East, Ankpa Federal Constituency produced the State Chairman in person of Engr. SB Godwin from Olamaboro Local Government Area and hence, Ankpa Constituency is in fairness to Dekina and Idah Federal Constituencies, out of permutations for the next State Chairman.
We have it on good account that a premeditated Stakeholders meeting was conveyed yesterday and rather than engaging critical Stakeholders of Kogi East, in furtherance of the already conceived motive of imposing a certain aspirant from Olamaboro Local Government, only His Excellency, Chief Edward David Onoja, Hon. Adejoh Nicodemus and Hon. Anthony Ujah, who are the Deputy Governor, Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government and Member Representing Olamaboro State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, respectively, and others from Olamaboro Local Government were the only people present.
The fact that all the trio mentioned above are all from Olamaboro Local Government Area and their deliberate act of not engaging enough Stakeholders does not only breach the right of other Stakeholders but suffice to say that whatever resolution was reached, if at all there was is an exercise in futility which will at best only bind on Olamaboro Local Government Area.
More so, that, the two(Apostle Sunday Ali and Comr Job Amana Daniel) leading aspirants, with large solidarity and support from the teeming Youths of Kogi East and by extension, Kogi Council in General are from the Idah Federal Constituency, the Coordinators’ Forum of Idah Federal Constituency strongly demand that other Federal Constituencies of Kogi East, especially Dekina Federal Constituency exercises patience with us.
In the spirit of “aluta” which binds us together, it is only right to demand this for the purpose of posterity and justice which are the ultimate etiquettes of activism. Therefore, while we encourage our two leading contestants to resolve among themselves for us to unanimously endorse a candidate for the Federal Constituency, we shall strongly resist any arrangement, ambition, aspiration or nomination outside Idah Federal Constituency for on it we stand, and in it we trust for the next State Chairman.
Finally, we want to commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for so far being a strong Democrat in words and action. And as for the Electoral Committee charged to oversee the Election, we do not have any doubt in your capacity to deliver, the election is a litmus test of your credibility and we hope you will write your names in gold.
