KOGI NYCN AND THE VOLUNTARY YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS (VYOs): A Call to ELCOM & Relevant Stakeholders to do Legal checks on Affiliate Youth Bodies.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) was established in 1964 and given life by the National Youth Policy of 2001, 2009 and 2019. The NYCN is meant to serve as umbrella body for coordinating all nationally and legally recognized Voluntary Uniform Youth Organizations with chapters and branches at all States and Local Government Areas in Nigeria, for the purposes of coordinating young people to global standards towards attaining self dreams, full potentials, and making them responsible to themselves and the society with a view to contributing positively to the overall development of the country.
The NYCN therefore, has as one of its core mandates, to train the youths to become future leaders. Therefore, any youth or group of youths who at this level engage (s) in nefarious act of forgery, criminal conspiracy and gross illegality must be seen as saboteur of our collective interest for building a good nation.

Yesterday 27/7/2021, the ELCOM published names of 35 Affiliate Youth Organizations that are to present 3 delegates each. On that list were several names of non registered and non nationally and legally recognized Uniform Youth Organizations. Only about 10 of the purported affiliate organizations passed national verification test that I personally and some persons conducted. It can therefore be seen as deliberate attempt by stakeholders with vested interest to arrive at predetermined electoral outcome for their Aspirants.
The funniest aspect of the luciferous gimmicks of the so called stakeholders especially, those from my zone ie Kogi East Senatorial zone is the purported removal of THE NIGERIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY from the earlier approved list.
For the records,
The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of the Parliament in 1960. The Act, referred to as the Nigerian Red Cross Act of 1960, CAP 324 states in Section 5 (1) that ‘the Society shall be recognised by the Government of the Federation as a Voluntary Aid Society, auxiliary to the public authorities…’ This shows that, THE NIGERIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, a body on whose mandate and sponsorship I am contesting for the Chairmanship is a creation of the Federal Government of Nigeria and statutorily meant to complement public authorities in the area of humanitarian interventions.
The mandate of THE NIGERIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY and by extension my mandate is derived from the aforementioned Act of Parliament and the Geneva Conventions of which Nigeria is a State party.

The general public is however requested to kindly note, that, I, Job Amana Daniel (JAD) had since been screened, found fit and declared qualified by the workaholic ELCOM team led by distinguished Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida. Therefore, any antics for disqualification being championed by those already scared of their shadows is clearly and merely an afterthought.
I therefore, call on the State Government, relevant security agencies and Concerned Members of the 4th estate to open an investigation into the authenticity of the approved purported affiliate bodies.
I am in contest to win free and square.

Job Amana Daniel (JAD), Candidate for Kogi NYCN Chairmanship, Idah Federal Constituency Ticket.
