Many discussions revolve around the political disposition and silence of Governor Yahaya Bello concerning the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries, which continues to divide the New Direction captains across interests. This has aggravated many questions and interpretations as to who will occupy the seat.
At a time like this, especially during an election, it becomes a suitable breeding ground for the emergence of some NUISANCE whose sole political campaign strategy only seeks to restrictively target personalities, ethnicity, and religion.
The campaigns are mostly characterized by unrealistic promises, projections, assumptions, and goals that are inconsistent with current realities and baselines for the coming years.
Governor Yahaya Bello’s silence could be a thought of putting the nominated aspirants into proving their capacities, strength, and readiness and to further confirm their level of acceptance at the grassroots level which of course is the organic structure for leadership.
A critical study of the whole politics will trigger the following questions, Is the governor going to consider the ‘Power Rotation Formula’ as agitated by Kogi West senatorial district stakeholders? Is he going to retain power in Kogi Central or going to relinquish power to Kogi East?
While it’s a gross miscalculated strategy to have allowed a large number of his principal appointees to have picked the gubernatorial election interest and nomination form, it’s also an act prone to inevitable allowing for Anti-party participation, especially when things go otherwise as expected of the aspirants.
It is an act capable of breeding aggrieved members which, to some extent, can be disastrous and have a cross-negative effect on the political party.
Every senatorial district has a valid argument as to why they should be considered. However, which criteria will the Governor adopt in choosing his successor?
Unfortunately, since the resignation of some appointees, there seems to be witnessing the emergence of her own set of some populists who continue to espouse rhetorics over logic, and deception over statements of facts and reality by deceptively appealing to the discontented sensibilities of loyalty.
In the end, we must COLLECTIVELY ensure that “the house” does not fall. It MUST not FALL.
