Just some months to the Kogi State Governorship Election, some members of the Accord Party are concerned that Former Naval Chief, Alhaji Jibrin Usman, the Party’s Governorship Candidate may have abandoned his running mate.
In a press statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja, Sani Ismaila and Funke Ojogbaje, lamented that since Ade Olamife was picked as running mate to the Accord Flagbearer, the running mate has never met him, as the Governorship candidate seems not to be working with him.
The group in the statement pointed out that in the last few week’s, while other Governorship Candidate are in different locations criss crossing the State with there running mate seeking for vote same is not to be with the Accord Party.
They pointed out that it is on record that Jibrin Usman has been in the Igala speaking area of the State campaigning in the last few days, said he has been seen alone, confirming the story that the sidelining of his running mate is deliberate.
The Concerned Accord Party members said like the SDP, PDP and other political parties, the opportunity for Jibrin to show the running mate to his people would have been now, but lamented that even though he has not formed government he has started sidelining and marginalizing the people of Kogi West by abandoning his Running mate.
The Concerned members lamented the marginalization to the West to the extent that you hardly will notice a single banner, billboard to show the presence of the Accord Party in the West, said it is obvious that Jibrin is not a democrat, but alledged to still be wearing the toga of a military dictator.
The Group expressed worries that the duo as Flagbearers of the Party are not united, urged the Accord Party candidate to give more attention to the West in seeking for votes, first by carrying his running mate along, as well as show more presence in Kogi West with the second registered voting population
