Kogi Guber: Make youth inclusion in governance key part of agenda.


 

Nigeria is on the journey of achieving its sustainable development goals, it is vital to acknowledge the role of youth participation in securing sustainable goals through governance.

 

It is no secret that the future of any nation lies on the hand of the youth. The presiders over our national affairs should not for any reason hold an exception to such fact if we desire to achieve our goals.

 

 

The ‘Not Too Young to Run Bill’ which was passed into law in Nigeria was a crucial step towards the promotion of youth participation in governance. It paves way for young people to aspire, win and take up leadership roles within their society and beyond.

we are approaching the Kogi State Governorship primaries slated for the 14th of April, all the aspirants need to discern the efforts of His Excellency, GYB in promoting youth inclusion in governance.

He has displayed leadership credibility in youth if allowed to serve.

He has consistently emancipated the youth politically by fronting them to take on key leadership roles in service to humanity throughout his administration as the Executive Governor.

Youth O’Clock as a non-governmental organization that advocates for youth inclusion in governance, believes that the upcoming Kogi State Governorship primaries provide a unique opportunity for the youth to consolidate their gains in the political sphere.

We urge all the aspirants to follow in the footsteps of Governor Yahaya Bello in promoting youth inclusion in governance.

The Governor has shown that it is possible to have a youthful and dynamic administration that can deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

The youths should not be left out of the governance equation, as they have a lot to offer in terms of fresh ideas, innovative solutions and energy to drive development.

In conclusion, we call on all the Kogi State Governorship aspirants to recognize the importance of youth inclusion in governance and to make it a key part of their agenda.
