Kogi Govt. Gives More Clarification on Okada, Keke Ban of Highways


 

Kogi State Government has restricted the movement of activities of Keke and motorcycle riders association on the major highway in the State.

 

To this end, the government also warmed anyone violated the restrictions would face the wranth of the law.

The state Commissioner for Transport, Mr Baron Okwoli gave hint while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja his office.

The commissioner disclosed that the restrictions would affect those plying route from Lokoja metropolis to Ajaokuta, Lokoja to Banda, Lokoja to Kabba Junction.

He however expressed concern of recent road crashed along lokoja- Jimgbe – Elite – Ajaokuta road which claimed about three lives of the kogi indigenes.

The Commissioner also advised Okada and KEKE Riders associations to pick their passagersrs along the major road junctions to their designated homes to minimize road accident.

According to the Commissioner, the government is ready to accommodate any private individuals willing to use commercial buses to compliment government efforts in reducing the suffering of the masses.

Mr Baron explained that soon all Okada and KEKE Riders would be given identification marks to assertain their area of operations in different locations to avoid cross over to another zone of their activities.

He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for ensuring that the Mega Terminal was fully operational to serve the purpose intended, adding that this has also create job opportunity to the teaming populaces in the state
