Kogi Gov’s SA, Omoluabi Congratulates Oloworaran on Senate Confirmation As PenCom DG, Hails Senate for legislative swiftness

The Special Adviser to Kogi state Governor on Energy Resources who doubles as the Chairman Forum of Special Advisers in Kogi State, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has congratulated Ms Omolola Oloworaran on her confirmation by the Senate as the Director General of National Pension Commission (PenCom), saying she is a square peg in a square hole.

Omoluabi said her confirmation is the beginning of a new era in the administration of the country’s pension sector and continuation of good leadership she started in acting capacity which he said can play a pivotal role in promoting well-being of senior citizens at old age, supporting entrepreneurship, contribute in funding the nation’s budget as well as boost the nation’s IGR through the informal sector.

The Senate had during her confirmation on Thursday through its Chairman Committee on Establishment and Public Service, Sen. Cyril Fasuyi said Oloworaran satisfied the requisite requirements and was “a qualified, fit, and proper person suitable for appointment as Director-General of the National Pension Commission.”

In a congratulatory message on Thursday, Omoluabi said the newly confirmed PenCom boss represents the finest breeds of Kogi sons and daughters who have continued to place the state on a map of honour by standing out in their chosen fields of human endeavour.

He said Ms. Oloworaran wields an enviable track record in banking, investment management, consultancy, pension administration and more, making her a perfect fit to head the commission, especially at a time the sector across the world is gaining more attention as it has proven to be facilitator of markets for financial instruments to promote diversification of investments

He said, “Beyond her confirmation, the clean bill of health she received from the Senate after in-depth inquiry has again silenced sponsored agents who bandied unfounded falsehoods bordering on her qualifications to head the Commission, in a desperate attempt to discredit her.

“I am happy today, all well-meaning indigenes of Kogi are happy today that she has been vindicated as being sufficiently qualified to head the agency. Her long years in the financial sector adequately prepares her to come up with innovations that will reposition the sector to serve the masses even more effectively.

“At a period when the desire to secure the future is very high I am optimistic that senior citizens will have basket loads of value to harvest in terms of security and swift processing of benefits.

“With the country’s pension assets worth over N20.23 trillion, I have no doubt that she will not only consolidate on gains made by her predecessors, but out-perform it in a way that she will stand tall among those who came before her.

“I also want to urge her to adopt an effective communication means that will increase acceptance and adoption of pension schemes among various categories of Nigerians”, he stated.

He assured the readiness of Kogi State to give institutional support that will help the new PenCom chief leave a legacy of excellent service delivery.
