The Kogi State government on Wednesday have conducted an orientation and induction program for newly recruited over one thousand teachers in three centers across the state. The government which announced the employment of the teachers a week ago through the Ministry of Education, Science and and Technology says the aim it to revamp the education sector for better productivity and human resources development.
Speaking at the Kabba Center of the induction program, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones says the teachers were employed based on merit after rigorous aptitude test and oral interview of about eighteen thousand applicants across the state. Hon Wemi Jones says he’s proud to supretend over a process that have been adjudged most transparent, fair and justifiable, he says Governor Yahaya Bello has scored unprecedented mark in recruiting excellent minds devoid of political, religious or primordial sentiment associated with such employment in the past.
Speaking in the same vein, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Matters, Hon Idris Asiru admonished the newly recruited teachers to be disciplined, focused and career driven. He said the government is concerned about the educational development of the state, the reason why he is taking this giant steps despite the excruciating Economic reality of the country.
While addressing the teachers, Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Hon Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi congratulated the new teachers for emerging successful among almost eighteen thousand applicants, he enjoined them to see their appointment and God given and product of excellent performance in the examinations leading to their selection. He assured the new teachers that the government is very serious and committed to the welfare of civil servants apart from regular monthly salary they receive. The special Adviser challenged the recruitees to justify their appointment with sterling performance that will lead to total overhaul of the educational system of the state.
The induction which is going in simultaneously at Kabba, Okene and Ayingba is a one day freshers orientation event designed to signal the commencement of work for the newly employed.
