Corporate Organizations doing businesses in Kogi State, especially the Dangote Group of Company, have been asked to live up to expectations in partnering with the State Government in the development of the State.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, made the call in a remarks at the ongoing 1st International Management, Enterpreneurship and leadership conference (FIMECON), organised by the Faculty of Management Sciences, Kogi State University in collaboration with Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan at the Management,(Middle) holden at the Lecture Theatre, Kogi State University, Anyigba.
The theme of the conference is Managing The Impact OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC: LEADERSHIP, ENTERPRENEURSHIP AND CHANGE IMPERATIVE, saw the Finance Commissioner calling on the Corporate Organizations doing business in the State to live up to their responsibilities in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibilities.
Asiwaju Asiru Idris pointed out that Company like Dangote has alot to do to support the development of the State, but lamented that not much impact by the Company has been noticed.
The Commissioner recalled that in 2017 Dangote promised to tar 50 kilometers of roads in the State as CSR, but pointed out that several years after nothing has been done by the Company.
He equally noted that in 2019 through an Executive Order 007, Dangote was given six roads to construct in the State, lamented that that too is yet to be done, urged the Dangote Groups of Company to live up to expectation.
Asiwaju Asiru Idris disclosed that Dangote has alot to do in the Educational support of the State, urged him to look into the possibility of building a 10,000 capacity hostels for students in the State’s tertiary institution.
The Finance Commissioner called on other Corporate Organizations in the State doing business to join hands with the State Government in the development of the State as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities.
Asiwaju Asiru Idris commended Gov Yahaya Bello for putting in place measures that has helped reposition the education Sector of the State in the right direction, lauded the unprecedented achievements of the present administration in build a solid Educational sector.
While noting that the governor has not disappointed the people of the State in terms of development, he assured that the State Governor is ever committed to taking the state to the next level of development in Education and in all other sectors.
